As a journalist, I've spent my career asking questions, seeking answers. I'm a lifelong learner, so let's learn from the experts together!
In each episode of the Birds & Nerds podcast, I'll be exploring a random topic that I want to learn more about with an expert on that subject. We're talking about, well, everything — AI, current affairs, history, science, conservation, philanthropy, sports, popular culture, writing, music, and more.
And, since birds are my favorite animals and touch our lives in a myriad of ways, we always find the connection — sometimes unexpected — to them!
In Episode 1, Vilas Dhar, president of The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation, a global voice on AI and its role in shaping society, and I discuss how society ensures that tech innovation serves the public good and strengthens the institutions that sustain democratic life. Who is in charge of making sure it is used for us and not against us?
And we discuss how AI might be able to help humans decode birdsong, which could allow us to actually talk one-on-one with birds and other animals.
Wouldn't that be cool!
